What happens if Landicity vaporizes?
If we can not conlcude this Option to Purchase we anticipate purchasing a different island. Your Landicity Steward Membership will be transferred to this new island. If we cannot close on an island, then we will close on ~1,000 undeveloped wildlands in Maine or elsewhere.
If Landicity goes out of business, all members shall have a vote to donate the escrowed funds, in which we dedicated a certain portion of the purchse price for.
Not what we are working towards, but if it does happen the web site may no longer be available depending on how we disappear. Our vision is to flourish with multiple Landicity Projects around the globe. Should this unlikely event occur, all the lawyers will square off and mess things up a bit. However, your Landicity Steward Membership, supporting documents and certificate of member-ownership convey unique benefits to the property. The lawyers really can not mess that up.
With The Landicity Maine Island Challenge we need to have enough members purchase to commit to the Option to Purchase. Once the Option is exercised, there may be other additional benefits that may arise after at least 11% of the area units are purchased. Once the land is in a conservation area or easement, the general use and access rights follow the land. Under conservation easement terms there may be development limits for buildings, camps, or other built structures or invasive development. The exception is a small number of primitive sites, lean-tos, and yurts. Under a conservation easement access should be available even if Landicity disappears, per se.
